A blog post from Mustard Seed Blog, that made me stop in my tracks!

“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” Psalms 46:10 Be still = ‘cease working,’ ‘stop striving’, ‘relax’, ‘be calm’. When the stresses and strains of life happen, we often are either immobilised by panic or we go into fix-it mode […]

I just saw that they’re having bad flooding, but we don’t live anywhere nearby. It’s hardly rained at all here where we live.

Your post [repeat] was even more timely – for us – as I had to take Jo to A & E (ER) yesterday (Tuesday) due to very severe stomach pain; it was so bad it was making her be sick.

In the end we were there for 13 1/4 hrs as they really had forgotten about her and thought she’d gone home, so had discharged her…even though she’d not moved from her seat for 4 hours as she had a canula in her arm.

Our health system is breaking badly…it makes me so sad. So many people desperate for help that is becoming harder to find and no other options available.

“Be still and know”, was so pertinent for me through that storm, of waiting to see what was causing her that much pain (she described it as 9 to 10 out of 10…..when pressed by a nurse to give it a number: she was describing it as just rather bad pain…her pain threshold is phenomenal!!).

So we are all ok now, and flooding is not nearby for us…but we are very tired and today (Thursday – it’s nearly 1am as I type this) is Peter’s birthday, but we’re all so very worn out I hope he still has a good day; he’s had to be flexible on what we can do as the pain meds Jo is on are making her pretty groggy, although they are working.

Sorry longer reply than I planned…I’m a tad short on sleep ask only got 2 hours yesterday and me and the older boys are still up preparing the house for the morning.

We have peace and God is good. But we are tired, albeit recovering.

Hope you and yours are ok?

      Andy B
