Family Focus – Being PUre!
In our FF5, we were focusing on the theme, ‘Being Pure’.
We first read James 1:27, then Psalm 119:9, and finally Philippians 2:12-18.
I asked a question:
“How do we stay pure, and spiritually clean?”
We talked about Philippians 4:8 – thinking about what is pure, lovely, praiseworthy, etc. We also discussed how reading God’s Word is important to stay close to Him, and therefore remain pure. In addition, we talked about how what films we watch, what books we read, and what songs we listen to all influence us, for good or ill.
My second question was:
“Where in our lives are we unclean, or impure – where we’re being polluted by the world?”
We considered how we can often be negatively influenced by subtle messages in films, songs, radio, etc., that go against God’s Word. This led us to think about how, in life, making things too clean, however, can be unhealthy. If you stay away from anything remotely wrong, you wouldn’t be able to watch any films, listen to any songs, or go anywhere inside or outside, because nothing on earth is perfect.
One must be in the world, but not of the world.
