How adaptable are we? Oh, and I’ve got a new book coming out

Tonight is a written Andy B 2 Minute Video.

What struck me today is that I had an idea for a video. Actually, I had several. I didn’t run out of time. I did get focused on a different project. Because, you see, the proof copy for my next book arrived and I’m super excited about it. So much so that I decided to devote time to fixing a few minor alterations that needed to be made, and then to authorise creation of an eBook that will be offered as a choice for those that prefer it.

So, at long last, I’ve decided to use the spot at 6pm (UK time) that would normally be my Andy B 2 Minute Video, to tell you about our need to never to be so focused on something that we miss something else even more important. It’s easy to forget that we serve God, not ourselves. And that, my dear friends, requires a great deal of humility and willingness to be adaptable.

Just a thought…

Which leads me nicely on to my next book project – called, cleverly, Just a thought…

Just a thought Volume 1... Front Cover

The Artwork is done. The foreword is loaded. It’s been spell checked, grammar checked, error checked and checked for so many things I can’t even remember how to describe!!

I’ve had to ensure that text appears in the correct part of each page (it wasn’t) and that page numbers match the book and don’t appear where they shouldn’t (they were).

As a project it’s probably taken me somewhere in the region of 40 hours of my time over the past 6 months or so, plus some time by my son Nathan. By the way, when it comes to my time, my wife always tells me that I’m far too conservative on such estimates…so who knows how long I took as I don’t keep records of such things 😜 .

So, what I can tell you is this!

  • It’s 180 pages long.
  • It’s got a cover you won’t find anywhere else – this is definitely an Andy B special!
  • There are 47 chapters and, while you can sit and read it one go, it could also give you a nice daily time of exercise for your brain for, well, 47 days. Why is it 47 chapters? Because 50 chapters seemed far too sensible and round a number.
  • It’ll have you laughing.
  • It’ll have you cringing.
  • It’ll have you wincing.
  • It’ll have you smiling.

Anyway, it’s out REALLY soon – God willing by the end of next week: on Amazon as a paperback or eBook (you don’t have to have a Kindle as any digital reader will work just as well).

It’s also got a very generous foreword crafted by a wonderful friend – who is also one of the world’s best encouragers – which I’ve included for you to enjoy.

Everything in a person flows out of their heart. The whole of life is heart work flowing from enlivened thoughts. Truly thoughts matter!

Jesus said you would know a tree by its fruit. The fruit of a tree is a consequence of the root it’s connected to. An orange can never come from an apple tree root. The core of who you are is evidenced by your life thinking and actions resulting. That’s why what is on the inside is so much more important than what is on the outside. Interior work matters. You can temporarily mask, bury, or fake the veneer of your world, but one day it will show.

Ultimately, what’s in your heart will reveal who you are.

Little, daily and consistent choices shape it all. Little thoughts, anchored to bigger truths, for a flourishing God-sense life!

The thoughts and inclinations of the heart shape the reality of who you and I are. They shape our thinking, which ultimately shapes our actions. So this book is about more than thoughts. It’s about ordering our lives under the good grace of God in the mix of this brilliant and broken world.

The disarming invitation of this book is that we might “let God run some diagnostics as you listen to the Holy Spirit!”

This book is a fizzy bundle of word-full, picture-rich, kingdom-shaped possibilities! Whole-life discipleship, lived-theology, and grown-up experience rings true here in vivid detail and radiant colour.

Andy offers us a collision of the ordinary and unexpected in the beckoning of Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit. Just a Thought… is “a collection of pregnant brain thoughts.” But it’s so much more than this. Andy reflects a determination, character, and grasp of God in His loving purpose and wise ways.

Thoughts are the incubation unit for the firing pattern of neurons, which eventually leads to a new way of being.

Proverbs 23:7 captures an enduring truth when it says, ”As a person thinks, so they are!” So may the thoughts of our lips and the lived truths of our hearts be truly pleasing in your sight. For you, Lord, are my Rock and my Redeemer!

Johnny is a lovely man. An amazing minister. An encourager and a source of much energy for Jesus, always with a smile and a great laugh. He’s ace!

😁 It was a temporary cover when I was messing about with some ideas. And it kind of stuck! Lol

      Seems rather fitting now

Thanks David…and yes, don’t bite that particular ice cream cone 😉

Great news!! I think 40 hours is probably very conservative for a book with 47 chapters! 😝 but congratulations on getting it finished!
