You can Listen, Read, or Watch, the video. While out mountain biking, Andy B and Jo Jo spotted their oldest son, running in the distance. They decided to push on a bit faster and get past him - for the first time, having always been just a bit slower than him!
Just as they were starting to get close, Andy B's bike had a puncture. So they stopped!
Their goal disappeared, literally, into the distance.
A couple of options were available - push the bikes home, or repair the puncture and carry on.
Thankfully, Andy B always carries the necessary tools to fix small breakdowns at the roadside, and set about fixing the hole caused by a loose thorn!
But they also got to have a lovely pause to enjoy the countryside they were riding through.
When goals aren't met, how do we respond?
Are we prepared to overcome them, or do we simply allow them to overwhelm us and get us down.
We've just come back from a mountain bike ride. Erm, about 6 miles. Erm, and the idea was just to go there, come back, do, do it. And then, whilst we were there, our, our son started off with us. He's running. And we thought. Do you know what? We can catch up with him. We can do this.
So, we got really quite into our cycle, and we were gonna make it. 'Cos we were doing what? 10 miles an hour? An we reckon he was doing about 6.
Off road. And he was doing about 6 miles an hour. And do you know what happened? We had a puncture. it stop stopped us from our goal.
And so often we have goals in life that we're trying to get to. We're gonna do this. We're going to do that.
For us it was going to be a mountain bike ride. And then it was we'll gonna get past our son. Mountain bike ride!
And, erm, these goals? They, they can be really good, and really fun. And they can be not so good!
Er, but there, there's kind of different setups for when the goals happen, and, and, then obstacles happen.
Now, I've got a a portable pump, so I've got some tools. And, er, we fix the puncture, and we kept going. So, we were prepared for something.
And it can be quite frustrating 'cos we were going to pass him. But, actually, we didn't pass him.
So we had to stop.
We had a nice chat.
And we fixed the puncture.
And we took in the scenery.
So when your goals don't quite go the way you want them to go, don't freak out! Might be that God's got a different plan, or a different view for you to see.
