Saul is made king

The story of God’s people wanting a King continues in 1 Samuel 9-12, where we meet Saul, the King chosen by God. In spite of the fact that God has warned the people about the problems of having a King and that they are rejecting Him as King by having one, God provides a King for his people. I find this amazing. God shows his displeasure by sending rain at a time when rain was unusual, but helps his people anyway.

This is the example I need to follow. I may not like the way things go at Church or indeed at work or in other areas of my life. But it’s comforting to know that God may not either, but He works with us and helps us in spite of our failings and bad choices. There’s hope for me yet!
