Stay close to God

Today I read 1 Samuel 18-20. In these chapters, King Saul becomes jealous of David to the point of trying to kill him. Fortunately, David becomes a good friend of Jonathan, King Saul’s son, who helps protect David from being killed by his father. Wow, what a friendship!

Prince Jonathan was told by his father that as long as David was still alive, Jonathan would never be king. On top of this, Jonathan was forced into a position of having to choose between his father and his close friend.

It was Jonathan’s relationship with God that gave him the ability to deal with these difficult situations in his life and do the right thing.

I need to stay close to God in order to be able to deal, like Jonathan, with the complex relationship issues in my own life.
