Unexpected answer to prayers
I started reading Romans today; the first three chapters.
Having just finished Acts, I know that Paul does get to Rome to speak to the people as he had been praying:
‘And one of the things I keep praying for is the opportunity, God willing, to come at last to see you and, if possible, that I will have a safe trip’(Romans 1:10)
I’m guessing when Paul wrote this letter, he didn’t know how or when he would get to Rome. In Acts 28, Paul finally arrived in Rome as a prisoner. Paul prayed for a safe trip –Good job he did! Paul did arrive safely, but after getting arrested, slapped in the face, shipwrecked and among other things bitten by a poisonous snake!
God’s way of answering ours prayers are often very different to what we expect. I can testify to this in my own life through many different events. One event that springs to mind is when we moved house at the beginning of this year. We faced homelessness, but God turned up and gave us an unexpected home, in an unexpected place after much stress, disappointment and difficulties our prayers were answered in ways we never dreamed. God is amazing!
