If you’re late for work, then rushing like a mad thing is rather a sensible course of action. Of course we shouldn’t break any speed limits doing so! But hanging about and taking our time to drink a second cup of tea isn’t appropriate either!!

There are times in life when we simply need to get a hustle on, to get the job done…and keep our job, perhaps…

As we switch across to some new video editing software, we’re taking our time. Sure, we’re pressing on to make the switch over to the new software but we also, already, have work we are already doing. So, we’re taking our time and doing a little bit more each week the new software, and a little bit less with the old software.

Within a couple of weeks, that process should have been completed.

There’s a phrase that goes a bit like this: slow is smooth, smooth is fast. The basic point is simply saying that going slower can save us time later.

Measure twice, cut once is another thing saying the same thing.

More haste, less speed is the exact same thing - when we rush we are prone to making mistakes. Sometimes those mistakes can not be undone.

So, Pace Yourself, and make sure you take that 7th day off from your rest-of-the-week-working-pattern. God took a break on the 7th Day of Creation…so we have no excuses!

Just a thought...

[00:00:00] So another Andy B 2 Minute Video, and I've been thinking about the importance of Pacing Ourselves. We can, we can go all out, we can do all this crazy stuff, and sometimes it is just logical to push ourselves really hard to get to the goal. It's a bit like running for the bus. You can see it coming. If you miss the bus, you are gonna be late for work. That's one of those times when running like crazy, to get to that bus stop is actually really, really valid. But we can't live our life like that because it exhausts us.

[00:00:36] Pacing Yourself is simply this. We need to remember that when we, when we are looking at our week, and perhaps you have a diary, a digital diary. Maybe you've got a white board, you write the days down, the activities for yourself, anybody else in the house or the family, and that, that that whiteboard can quickly fill up and there's no time left. All of a sudden we are rushing from one thing to the next and, and we are exhausted [00:01:00] and not really doing a very good job at anything.

[00:01:03] Pace yourself means you need to leave gaps. It's really important. In the week, God set it up that there's a gap. Every seventh day we're supposed to stop and rest, pause, worship. That's the seventh day. That's how God set it up. Even He had a rest. He made the world in six days, on the seventh day he rested.

[00:01:23] When you look at the Four Seasons, four seasons in the world, and it's a cycle, and there's a rest for the plants, there's a time when they're not growing, actually. They're just, they're waiting and they're sitting and having a bit of a pause. And we see that replicated all over the place. Not necessarily like a bear that hibernates. But there's important times of pausing. And when you're planning a week, if you are going flat out, you're gonna be exhausted.

[00:01:47] Now, we've recently switched to some more video editing software, getting our heads around that, but there's a big changeover. My Andy B vids are now done on the new software, and hopefully, right now we'll be changing over our 60 Second [00:02:00] Weekly Video. And then next week maybe we'll start with endurance and switch that across because we need to pace ourself. Because if we do everything at the same time, it's gonna be really hard work, and there's still stuff to do.

[00:02:12] So it's important to pace ourselves as Christians. It's important to pace ourselves when change comes in particular. And it's important to make sure that we're, we are leaving gaps so that we can actually do things at a sensible rate so we can really make a healthy go whatever it is we're trying to change or that God's asking us to change.

[00:02:28] Pace Yourself!
