Today is a good day! We’ve got two loads of washing on our washing line blowing in the gentle breeze and sun. As a stat at home dad, this makes Andy B very happy!

Inside the home, the hoover has been finally repaired and the carpets have been thoroughly gone over. As has the stairs, and lots of dusting has happened too.

In our homes, and in our Spiritual lives we need lots of maintenance. Dirt and dust appear no matter what we do, especially if you use a wood burning stove a lot!

In our walks with Jesus Christ dirt and dust constantly appears too, blocking our ability to see God, and who He is.

While we need to keep doing what we can to keep on top of things it’s also important to take moments to deep clean. In our spiritual lives this is resting before God with no agenda and allowing Him to the opportunity to gently help us clean behind those harder to reach places.

I really enjoy cleaning the home. I love being with God. But, I’m rather good at keeping a lid on those hard to reach places, letting the dirt build up.

So, take some time before God, to get vulnerable with Him. Make a hole in your schedule, pull away the furniture of your spiritual life, and give it a good clean – especially those areas of our lives which people don’t get to see often, or at all.

Just a thought...

So another Andy B 2 Minute Video. And what I've been thinking about today is I've got two loads of washing on my washing line. Which always makes me personally very, very excited, to see clean washing blowing in the wind. The sun is doing its thing and it's great. No tumble dryer. No costs. It makes me very happy Stay At Home Dad.

But I was thinking about cleaning because my son, and one of, one of one of my sons and I, we've been doing quite a bit of cleaning. We've been polishing the floors a bit. It's all wood floor downstairs. So we've been hoovering, and sweeping, and cleaning the skirting board. And I've cleaned the carpets and all sorts. And we've been having a really good clean. Now one of the reasons why we've had to do that is because our hoover was broken for a while. So it's taken about a month to get that sorted. So, the dust and stuff has built up. So, now, that's all gone, which is great!

0:53
But this really struck me about our relationship with God and how we have time with God. You see, we've been maintaining this house as best we can since we moved in a few months ago. And we clean, and we do this and that. And we take stuff out to the bin. And, you know, we spray things down. And we do lots of maintenance. But, actually, what one of my lads and I did today was more than maintenance, it was really a deep clean to be honest, because the hoover's now working and we can do that.

1:22
But, in our spiritual lives, we can so frequently go through life, just maintaining our relationship with God. And there's some good in that, through the the busy periods of life, where we simply take opportunities to grab a prayer here, and read a bit of scripture there. And that can be part of life.

1:41
But as good as maintenance is, sometimes we need to actually stop. So whilst dusting and cleaning is really good. Sometimes we've got to move things out of the way as well, and get behind things. And that's the same in our spiritual journeys too.

1:54
Let's make sure that, in all that we're doing, as much as it's good to maintain our relationship with Jesus Christ, we also need to make sure that we're letting Him help us with our deep cleaning.

2:04
Our washing machine gets a proper clean every month inside. We use it a lot. It just make sense. But we need that same kind of issue being resolved in our own spiritual journeys with God.

2:13
So let's take time to rest, as well as maintaining, to see what God might want to say to us.
